Roaring 20’s Weekend in Alexandria Bay is a major annual event. As Miss New York, I was asked to participate in a short skit - “Jewlery Store Heist.” They provided me with a 20’s style costume and afterward, I stayed to meet and greet the crowd as well as sign autographs.
This is an annual festival celebrating the French heritage of the Cape Vincent area. There were 10,000-15,000 people who attended. Captain Jack’s, a restaurant on the water, donated lunch for my traveling companion, Nancy, and myself. Later, I was part of a parade and I rode in a convertible lent to us by Dealmakers, the official automobile sponsor to Miss New York.
Miss New York’s first local for the 2007 year, The Miss Thousand Islands Pageant, was formalized in 1965 as a preliminary to the Miss America Scholarship Competition. Congratulations to the new Miss Thousand Islands 2007, Ann Walck. I would like to wish her much luck and success as she starts her year of service and preparation for the Miss New York State Competition in July 2007. Thank you to the production crew and board of Miss Thousand Islands for having me as their guest. I wish the rest of the young ladies who competed much luck in their future plans. Christina Edwards - You made an amazing Miss Thousand Islands and your new “do” is fabulous. Good luck with your future plans and thank you for making my experience at Miss New York very memorable and for being part of the incredible Domino’s Pizza Party we had Thursday night during pageant week! Being crowned Miss New York 2006 was possibly the most incredible moment of my life. I feel extremely honored to be representing the 21 wonderful women who I competed with. Each one of them is intelligent, talented, beautiful and accomplished. Please enjoy these pictures of the crowning and my deepest gratitude goes out to all of the young ladies, hostesses, the state board, and volunteers for dedicating their time and effort to make Miss New York an incredible state pageant. I would also like to thank my local ED, Doug Nelson, my family and friends, and everyone else who helped me achieve this great honor. I hope to make you all proud to say that I am your Miss New York 2006.
I had the opportunity to teach at-risk children who are part of P.I.N.S. - Persons In Need of Supervision which is a program associated with Y.E.S. I taught several young ladies how to tap dance as part of a four week mentoring program to help provide these young women with a productive activity during the summer along with a positive role-model experience.
The Dealmaker Hospice Golf Tournament is an annual event at the Thousand Islands Country Club on Wellesley Island to benefit the Hospice Foundation. I was privileged to be a volunteer and guest at their event along with Craig Conroy, hockey player with the L.A. Kings and Chris Clark, hockey player with the Washington Capitals. The tournament was estimated to raise around $85,000 for the Hospice Foundation. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

The girls are doing a great job! Today they learned a tap combination almost a minute long. I am so proud of how much they are learning in only two weeks. CampInterative is an organization that I am involved in whose mission is to bridge the digital and leadership divide by introducing the creative power of technology and the inspiration of the outdoors to underprivileged youth in one program. I am part of their grant writing committee and volunteer my time with the program.
This is an annual event in Sackets Harbor where the community comes together to celebrate its history. I had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful people as well as watching some incredible marching bands from area schools. I hope you enjoy the pictures! Unfortunately, it rained, but it held off long enough to keep the top down and throw some candy for the kids!
